Barnes, a publicly held company trading on the New York Stock Exchange, maintains a comprehensive set of policies and procedures to enable effective corporate governance. ESG is managed by an ESG Steering Committee, which consists of members of the Senior Leadership Team with the full support of the Barnes Board of Directors. Our Board of Directors exercises oversight of risk management, and with regard to ESG, in particular, the Board exercises governance over ESG through three of its key standing committees – Audit, Compensation and Governance.
ESG Steering Committee Charter
Integrity across the board
Comprised of twelve individuals, eleven of whom are independent, our Board of Directors is our highest governing body. The Board actively engages in risk management oversight, succession planning, and corporate governance matters. Our Board is ethnically and racially diverse, and 25% of our directors are women.
Health, Safety & Environmental Affairs
In order to focus on innovation, our employees must have a safe workplace. In order to be a leader of tomorrow, we must act to keep our environment resilient.
Standards of care
Barnes has developed robust Health, Safety and Environmental standards. We hold all of our divisions to those standards, in addition to complying with all applicable laws and environmental regulations. We closely monitor and report on our management of all materials that may be harmful to the environment if not handled properly.
Employee Development and Engagement
The Barnes Talent Management System framework focuses on five pillars—Attract, Perform, Develop, Engage and Recognize—to support all our employees’ professional growth.
A framework for growth
The relentless pursuit of next requires that our employees believe we’re invested in their future. To envision the products and processes of tomorrow, Barnes has to have the right people, with the right skills, in the right roles, at the right time. And they’re each powered by the knowledge that we’re behind them all the way.
Respect for human rights
Fundamental to our Values, our Vision, and the way we do business is the respect and dignity we have for each individual. At Barnes, we do not tolerate human rights abuses in any part of our business, anywhere we do business.
We believe that being a good corporate citizen begins with being a great community leader, which is why we encourage philanthropy, compassion and change through our Barnes Group Foundation and other efforts.
Our commitment to community
Charitable giving, matching gifts, support for the arts and healthcare organizations—these are some of the ways Barnes actively builds stronger communities. By creating stronger cultural institutions, better educational opportunities and wider social safety nets, we build security for everyone—and allow tomorrow’s innovators to dream.
Products & Processes
The Barnes value proposition involves our ability to consistently deliver high-quality products and processes that advance our understanding of what’s possible.
