Mr. Dempsey is President and Chief Executive Officer, Barnes Group Inc. Prior to that, he served as Senior Vice President and Chief Operating Officer.Mr. Dempsey joined Barnes Group as President, Windsor Airmotive in 2000 to lead and strategically position the Company's Aerospace Aftermarket business for future growth. He was later promoted to Group Vice President, Operations for Barnes Aerospace, expanding his responsibilities for both the OE production and Aftermarket segments. In 2004, Mr. Dempsey was appointed a Company Officer and President of Barnes Aerospace. He was subsequently promoted to President, Barnes Distribution to lead the Company's expansion in its North American and European distribution businesses. In 2008, he was appointed as President, Logistics and Manufacturing Services, Barnes Group Inc. In 2012, he was promoted to Chief Operating Officer and President, Barnes Industrial before becoming President and Chief Executive Officer, Barnes Group Inc. in 2013.Prior to joining Barnes Group, Mr. Dempsey held a number of senior management positions at United Technologies Corporation, Pratt and Whitney Division, serving as President, HAC Division, and General Manager, TCT and DPRO Divisions. Mr. Dempsey also served in several leadership positions at Interturbine Corporation.
Mr. Dempsey holds a Bachelor's degree in Engineering Technology Education from the University of Limerick, Ireland and an M.B.A. degree from the University of Michigan.
Christopher J. Stephens, Jr. was appointed Senior Vice President, Finance and Chief Financial Officer, Barnes Group Inc. in January 2009.
Prior to joining Barnes Group, he had more than 20 years of experience with Fortune 500 companies, including Honeywell, The Boeing Company, Allied Signal, and Ingersoll-Rand. Most recently, he served as President, Honeywell Consumer Products Group (CPG), an automotive products business with leading brands such as Prestone, FRAM, and Autolite. Prior to CPG, Mr. Stephens was the Chief Financial Officer of Honeywell's Transportation Systems business. He also held senior leadership roles at Boeing Company and Allied Signal. He started his career at Ingersoll-Rand as a member of the Financial Management Training Program and held finance positions with increasing responsibility over the next 10 years.
Mr. Stephens received a Bachelor's degree in Accounting from King's College in Wilkes-Barre, Pennsylvania and an M.B.A. in Corporate Finance from Virginia Tech's Pamplin School of Business. He is a Certified Public Accountant, and a member of the Advisory Council at Fairfield University's Dolan School of Business.
James Berklas was appointed Senior Vice President, General Counsel and Secretary, Barnes Group Inc. in August 2015. Prior to joining Barnes Group, Mr. Berklas served as Senior Vice President, Associate General Counsel, Chief Compliance Officer and Associate Corporate Secretary for Herbalife, Ltd. in Los Angeles, California from 2008 to 2015. In this role, he was responsible for legal affairs, corporate governance and legal support for the board of directors. From 2005 to 2008, he served as General Counsel and Corporate Secretary for Marietta Corporation and, from 2006 to 2008, also as Senior Vice President & General Manager for Marietta’s Hotel Division. Mr. Berklas commenced his career in private practice with three prominent law firms, including Vinson & Elkins LLP, Simpson Thatcher & Bartlett LLP, and Irell & Manella LLP.
Mr. Berklas holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Political Science from the University of California and a Juris Doctorate from Harvard Law School in Cambridge, Massachusetts.
Dawn N. Edwards serves as Senior Vice President, Human Resources for Barnes Group Inc.
Joining Barnes Group in 1998, Ms. Edwards was most recently Vice President of Human Resources - Global Operations. Prior to this, she held positions of increasing responsibility with Barnes Aerospace and the former Barnes Industrial. Before joining Barnes Group, Ms. Edwards held a number of Human Resource positions at United Technologies Corporation Hamilton Standard division.
She has a Bachelor's degree in Philosophy from the University of Connecticut and a Juris Doctorate from the University of Connecticut School of Law.
Rick Barnhart was appointed Senior Vice President, Barnes Group Inc. and President, Barnes Aerospace in August 2013. Joining Barnes Group in 2005, Mr. Barnhart was most recently Vice President, Aerospace and President, Barnes Aerospace. Prior to this, he held positions of increasing responsibility with Barnes Aerospace, including Vice President and General Manager, Windsor Airmotive; Vice President and General Manager, Manufacturing; and President, Barnes Distribution Europe. Mr. Barnhart came to Barnes Group with more than 20 years of executive experience, holding positions such as President, Aerostructures Division of Kaman Corporation; Vice President, Americas, Eastern Region, and Vice President, General Manager, Memphis, Solectron Global Services. Prior to Solectron, he was with United Technologies’ Pratt & Whitney division and PricewaterhouseCoopers as a Senior Manager in management consulting.
Mr. Barnhart holds a Bachelor’s degree from the University of Vermont. He also earned an M.B.A. from the University of Connecticut.
Scott Mayo was appointed Senior Vice President, Barnes Group Inc. and President, Barnes Industrial in March 2014. Prior to joining Barnes Group, Mr. Mayo was Vice President and General Manager, Power Sector, Flow Control Division at Flowserve Corporation in Irving, Texas. He joined Flowserve in 2002 and held various positions of increasing responsibility during his tenure there, including: Vice President and General Manager, General Industries Sector, Flow Control Division; Vice President, Marketing, Flow Control Division; General Manager, Flow Control Division, China; Director, Marketing, Flow Control Division, Raleigh, NC; Director and General Manager, Aftermarket, Raleigh, NC; and Director Strategic Planning and Business Development. Prior to joining Flowserve, Mr. Mayo held the role of Vice President, Marketing and Engineered Sales, Flow Control Division, Americas for Invensys PLC.
Mr. Mayo holds a Master of Business Administration degree from the University of Memphis and a Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering from Christian Brothers University.
Marian Acker serves as Vice President, Controller for Barnes Group. She previously served as Vice President and Corporate Controller for Barnes Group. Joining the Company in 1993, she has held positions of increasing responsibility with the Company, including Group Controller, Barnes Aerospace, and Assistant Corporate Controller. Prior to that, Ms. Acker was with PricewaterhouseCoopers as Audit Manager.
A Certified Public Accountant, she earned her Bachelor's degree in Business Administration from the University of Vermont and a Master's degree in Finance from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute in Hartford, Connecticut.
Michael Kennedy was appointed Vice President, Tax in August 2015. Prior to joining Barnes Group, Mr. Kennedy served as Vice President of Tax and Treasury at Platform Specialty Products Corporation (formerly MacDermid Inc.), where he was responsible for all federal, state and local tax issues as well as managing Global Treasury operations. From 2001 to 2006, he held the position of Vice President, Taxation with Allied Domecq North American Corporation in Westport, CT. From 1997 to 2001, Mr. Kennedy served as Director, Tax for MacDermid Inc. and from 1989 to 1997, he held a variety of tax and tax-related roles with Dynamics Corporation of America. He began his career with Arthur Andersen & Co. as part of the tax consulting team. Mr. Kennedy earned his Bachelor’s degree in Accounting from Pace University in Pleasantville, New York. Additionally, he is also a Certified Public Accountant (CPA).
Kenneth R. Hopson joined Barnes Group Inc. in 2012 as Vice President, Treasurer. Prior to joining Barnes Group, Mr. Hopson served as Senior Vice President and Global Treasurer for Parsons Brinckerhoff, Inc. in New York where he was responsible for providing day to day financial and operating CFO leadership for planning, management, and control of the global finance function. From 1999 to 2008, Mr. Hopson served as Vice President and Corporate Treasurer of UST, Inc. in Greenwich/Stamford, CT, in charge of corporate strategy, credit and collection management, pension management, and insurance risk. From 1997 to 1999, he held the position of Vice President Treasurer, Americas and Asia Pacific for BTR, Inc.
Mr. Hopson holds a Bachelor’s degree in Business Management & Accounting from Franklin and Marshall College, Lancaster, PA. Additionally, he is a Certified Public Accountant (CPA) and is a Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) charter holder.
Lukas Hovorka serves as Vice President, Corporate Development for Barnes Group Inc. Mr. Hovorka joined Barnes Group in 2008 as Director, Corporate Development. Prior to joining Barnes Group, he was with ITOCHU International Inc. where he held the position of Director/Vice President, Corporate Development. From 2001 to 2002, Mr. Hovorka had the role of Senior Associate, Mergers & Acquisitions with Robertson Stephens, and he was with Goldman Sachs from 1996 to 1999.
Mr. Hovorka holds a Master’s degree in Business Administration in Finance from The Wharton School, University of Pennsylvania and a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration from the University of Southern California.
